देहरादून। भारतीय सैन्य अकादमी (आइएमए) में जल्द ही एक बड़ा बदलाव होने जा रहा है। इस प्रतिष्ठित सैन्य अकादमी में जुलाई से महिला कैडेटों का पहला बैच शामिल होगा। अकादमी के 92 साल के इतिहास में यह पहला अवसर होगा, जब यहां पर महिला कैडेट प्री-मिलिट्री ट्रेनिंग प्राप्त करेंगी और उसके बाद पासआउट होकर सेना में अफसर बनेंगी। कुछ समय पहले सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने खड़गवासला स्थित नेशनल डिफेंस एकेडमी (एनडीए) के दरवाजे महिलाओं के लिए खोलने के आदेश दिए थे। जिसके बाद महिला कैडेटों को एनडीए में प्रवेश मिलना शुरू हुआ था।
जहां छठे एवं फाइनल टर्म की 18 महिला कैडेट में आठ ने थल सेना का विकल्प चुना है। अब एनडीए से पासआउट होने के बाद ये महिला कैडेट्स सालभर का सैन्य प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त करने के लिए भारतीय सैन्य अकादमी में आएंगी। आधिकारिक सूत्रों के मुताबिक, आगामी जुलाई से अकादमी में महिला कैडेटों का पहला बैच सैन्य प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त करने लगेगा। बता दें कि इंडियन मिलिट्री एकेडमी की स्थापना एक अक्टूबर 1932 को हुई थी। अकादमी के पहले बैच से 40 जेंटलमैन कैडेट पासआउट हुए थे।
पिछले नौ दशक में अकादमी ने अपनी प्रशिक्षण क्षमता 40 कैडेट से 1,650 जैंटलमैन कैडेट तक बढ़ा दी है। अब तक 65 हजार से अधिक आफिसर कैडेट इस प्रतिष्ठित अकादमी से पासआउट हो चुके हैं। इनमें 34 मित्र देशों को मिले कैडेट भी शामिल हैं। अकादमी का गौरवशाली इतिहास रहा है और यहां से पासआउट कैडेटों ने सभी क्षेत्रों में उत्कृष्टता हासिल की है। अकादमी से पासआउट हुए कई सैन्य अधिकारियों ने देश के लिए अपना सर्वोच्च बलिदान भी दिया है। अब अकादमी के गौरवशाली इतिहास में एक और नया अध्याय जुड़ने जा रहा है। क्योंकि अकादमी में अब पुरुष कैडेटों के अलावा महिला कैडेट भी सैन्य प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त करेंगी।
एनडीए में चयन होने के बाद कैडेट तीन साल तक खड़गवासला स्थित अकादमी में सैन्य प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त करने के साथ ही ग्रेजुएट की डिग्री भी हासिल करते हैं। इसके बाद एनडीए से पासआउट होकर प्रशिक्षण के लिए आइएमए, नौसेना अकादमी व वायुसेना अकादमी में जाते हैं। कैडेट यहां पर सालभर का कड़ा सैन्य प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त कर पासआउट होकर सेना में अफसर बनते हैं।
