बरसात का मौसम आते ही डेंगू, मलेरिया और चिकनगुनिया जैसी मच्छर जनित बीमारियों का खतरा तेजी से बढ़ जाता है। इन्हीं में से एक है फाइलेरिया (हाथीपांव), जो मच्छरों के काटने से फैलने वाली गंभीर बीमारी है। यह रोग धीरे-धीरे शरीर की लसीका नलिकाओं को प्रभावित कर देता है और पैरों या शरीर के अन्य हिस्सों में असामान्य सूजन ला सकता है। अगर समय रहते इलाज न किया जाए तो मरीज के जीवन पर भारी असर पड़ता है।
भारत सरकार ने 2027 तक फाइलेरिया उन्मूलन का लक्ष्य तय किया है। इसी कड़ी में उत्तर प्रदेश सहित कई राज्यों में 10 से 28 अगस्त तक फाइलेरिया उन्मूलन अभियान चलाया जा रहा है। इस दौरान लोगों को मुफ्त दवा दी जा रही है, जिसका सेवन करना बेहद जरूरी है। स्वास्थ्य विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि इस दवा का सेवन करना ही संक्रमण को फैलने से रोकने का सबसे आसान और कारगर तरीका है।
बीमारी कैसे फैलती है?
संक्रमित मच्छर जब किसी व्यक्ति को काटता है तो उसके शरीर में मौजूद कीड़े (पैरासाइट) खून के जरिए दूसरे इंसान में पहुंच जाते हैं और धीरे-धीरे उसकी लसीका नलिकाओं पर हमला करने लगते हैं। यही कारण है कि यह रोग गंदगी, खुले नाले और पानी के जमाव वाले इलाकों में ज्यादा फैलता है।
लक्षण और दिक्कतें
शुरुआत में इसके लक्षण दिखाई नहीं देते, लेकिन धीरे-धीरे बुखार, दर्द और सूजन बढ़ने लगती है। पैरों में असामान्य सूजन आ जाती है, जिससे वे हाथी के पैर जैसे दिखने लगते हैं। पुरुषों में हाइड्रोसील (अंडकोश में पानी भरना) की समस्या भी हो सकती है।
बचाव के उपाय
हर साल सरकार की ओर से दी जाने वाली एमडीए दवा (मास ड्रग एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन) का सेवन जरूर करें।
गर्भवती महिलाओं, एक साल से छोटे बच्चों और गंभीर रोगियों को यह दवा नहीं दी जाती।
मच्छरों से बचाव के लिए मच्छरदानी का प्रयोग करें, पूरी बाजू के कपड़े पहनें और रिपेलेंट का इस्तेमाल करें।
